On Monday, Class 6 visited the Ripon Museums to celebrate the end of their Victorian history topic.
We started the day at the Prison and Police museum where the children had the opportunity to dress up as Victorian police and re-enact a real life crime. Then we visited the Old Courthouse and acted out the trial of a horse and cart thief who, when judged the Magistrate, was sentenced to death by hanging!
Finally we spent some time in the Workhouse, learning what it was like to be a poor Victorian and what their life was like there - we even had a go at some Victorian jobs such as washing, carpet beating and using a mangle.
